Miller Waste does more than haul away your waste: we capture the value of recyclables and organic waste to reduce the total amount of material in the landfill and create renewable energy.
In 2020, Miller collected 78,852 metric tonnes of material from its commercial customers in Nova Scotia and diverted half from the landfill.
We recover the value of leaf and yard waste at our aerobic composting facility, where the waste is ground, watered, and turned regularly to produce compost, high quality soil, and other premium soil amendment products.
Food waste is slurred and transported to anaerobic digestion facilities where the metabolic activity of micro-organisms converts the waste into renewable heat and energy and a liquid fertilizer for local farms.
We sent recyclables to Material Recovery Facilities where material is separated by type and processed for alternative uses to offset the need to harvest or extract virgin materials.
