Escarpment Renewables

Escarpment Renewables is Miller’s waste-to-energy facility in Grimsby, Ontario, where we transform organic waste into renewable energy and an organic fertilizer.

Our operations create sustainable loop of food, waste, and energy that returns the value of nutrient-rich organic waste to the earth where it can support the growth of future crops and our food supply instead of releasing harmful emissions in a landfill.

What We Produce

Escarpment Renewables is an anerobic digestion facility, where we feed specially treated organic waste from municipal and commercial sources to micro-organisms, who digest the material and produce nutrient-rich material as by-products.

Compactor

Heat and Power

One of the by-products of anaerobic digestion is biogas, which we capture and combust to create renewable heat and electrical energy. This is fed to the Ontario power grid and consumed by local homes and businesses.

Fertilizer

The liquid residue of the digestion process contains stable organic matter in the form of micro and macro-nutrients. When applied on land, it functions as an organic fertilizer that helps soil retain moisture, resist run-off and erosion, and anchor plant root.
