Escarpment Renewables is Miller’s waste-to-energy facility in Grimsby, Ontario where we transform organic waste into renewable energy and an organic alternative to traditional fertilizer.
Our operations create sustainable loop of food, waste, and energy that returns the value of nutrient-rich organic waste to the earth where it can support the growth of future crops and our food supply instead of releasing harmful emissions in a landfill.
What We Produce
At Ecarpment Renewables, we used specially treated organic waste as feedstock for micro-organisms, who digest the material and release biogas and anaerobic digestate as by-products.
Digestate contains micro-nutrients and trace elements that many synthetic fertilizers lack
making it a safe, effective, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fertilizer.
The resulting biogas is captured and combusted
to create renewable thermal and electricial energy, which is fed to the Ontario power grid and consumed by local homes and businesses.
