In this position, the successful applicant could be in charge of planning, designing, developing, and managing projects for the construction of new waste management facilities or the periodic upgrade of existing facilities. Miller is an acknowledged leader in our industry in terms of designing, constructing, and operating large recycling facilities, such as the York Region Material Recovery Facility (MRF), and this individual will be involved in similar future projects. This state of the art facility is one Canada’s largest Blue Box MRF’s and our engineering team has successfully installed several retrofits to take advantage of new technology and maximize the value of the recyclable commodities.
In addition, the successful applicant will have exposure to proposal writing, cost estimating, regulatory approvals and contract administration.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of managing projects, and have experience planning, organizing, and controlling all elements of a project. A collaborative nature is important, as this individual will work with other Miller employees, engineering consultants, contractors, and government regulators.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering, or be a Certified Engineering Technologist. In addition, candidates should be proficient in the use of CAD software.
Candidates should be a Civil or Mechanical Engineer, or a Certified Engineering Technologist, with a minimum of 5 years of experience leading projects and managing people. The successful applicant will play an essential role in current and future ventures within the company. Their engineering experience will provide an analytic framework allowing them to be an integral part of implementing new projects, while their collaborative nature will help foster relationships within the Engineering Department, and with external contacts.
